The goal of a breast lift is to return its natural form and size while maintaining the functions (feeding in case of possible pregnancy). This operation removes excess skin with the return of the areola and nipple to its original place.
The breast may go down and not look aesthetically pleasing in the following cases:
at the end of the lactation period;
the breast was large and under its weight, the skin lost elasticity;
due to weight loss.
The Gold Laser Clinic performs breast plastic surgery. Our surgeons are masters of their work; they will return the desired shape and youth.
Indications for a breast lift
The degree of omission (ptosis) is determined by the level of the nipple in relation to the breast fold.
I (light) – the nipple is located at the level of the submammary fold.
II (middle) – the nipple is 3 cm below the chest fold.
III (developed) – the nipple is lowered more than 3 cm below the fold under the gland and reaches the lower pole.
IV (expressed) – the nipple is directed downward.
There are also other types of breast prolapse. With pseudoptosis, the nipple retains its position, but the tissues are so inelastic that they reach the level of a submammary fold or lower. With parenchymal imbalance, the elasticity of the lower chest is lost, as a result of which the nipple is lowered. The prerequisites for the formation of mastoptosis are hormonal dysfunctions during pregnancy, feeding, sudden weight loss, age-related changes, heredity or acquired breast sprain during increased sports activities (running in particular).
Fortunately, today the problem of prolapse of the mammary glands is effectively solved using the mastopexy procedure.
Its main advantages:
correction of the shape of the breast even with severe ptosis;
the ability to change the size of the areola and nipple;
tightening effect for 7–10 years;
lack of noticeable scars.
Since a breast lift is a plastic surgery, it is associated with some unpleasant moments:
a long recovery period;
injuries;
the formation of hematomas and edema;
temporary loss of nipple sensitivity.
Contraindications
Plastic surgery is contraindicated in the presence of:
malignant tumor in the chest;
acute diseases in a progressive stage;
infectious diseases;
dermatological lesions of the mammary gland;
bleeding disorders;
diabetes mellitus;
pathologies of the cardiovascular system;
pregnancy and lactation period.
Preparing for a Breast Lift
Preparation for breast lift surgery is as follows:
absence of any acute and chronic diseases;
mandatory passage of a full clinical examination and delivery of all tests;
consultation of the anesthesiologist and oncologist;
for at least 2 weeks do not use preparations containing aspirin, as well as vitamin E and lecithin;
in the evening before the operation, you can take a shower and eat fast-digesting products for dinner.
Breast Lift Techniques
Depending on the degree of development of mastoptosis, different techniques for conducting the operation are used. The most common are the following:
Circular – involves a small incision in the areola. In this case, the nipple rises to the desired level, and excess tissue is excised.
Vertical – provides for two incisions: in the areola circle and vertical in the direction of the pectoral fold. Allows you to tighten the skin to the desired state and raise the chest.
Anchor (T-shaped) – characterized by two wide horizontal sections and one vertical. This method provides the greatest possible breast modeling.
With slight omission, a circular lifting is most often used. It is less traumatic and has a short rehabilitation period. With medium and highly developed ptosis, the method of vertical mastopexy is preferable, but only the anchor technique can cope with the expressed manifestations of prolapse of the mammary glands. However, it is also the most traumatic procedure, requiring special doctor skills and thorough post-treatment care.
The doctor determines the method of mastopexy individually after examining and identifying the degree of defect.
The operation itself is performed under general anesthesia for 1.5–2 hours. The surgeon excises excess tissue, transfers the areola and nipple to a new position, forming attractive breast shapes.
In some cases, lifting is combined with an increase or decrease in the mammary glands, which allows you to solve several aesthetic problems in one session.
Breast Lift Results
In the first days after plastic surgery, the patient may feel discomfort and pain in the chest area. There may be small swelling and bruising which completely disappear in 2 weeks.
At this time, compression underwear should be worn, which will provide better fixation of new forms. It is recommended to refrain from physical activity, visiting the sauna, pool, hot tubs or beach. In order to prevent complications, antibiotics are prescribed for 5–7 days. It will be necessary to be observed by the attending physician for about 6 months.
The effect of breast lift is maintained on average for 7 years, under the condition of a healthy lifestyle. It is advisable to consume less alcohol, nicotine and junk food, to exercise, which will help maintain the tone of the skin of the chest.
If you plan to lose weight dramatically, bear and feed the baby in the near future, then it is better to postpone the operation, since all the work of the surgeon will be in vain.
